Questions and Answers

What should I go see in South Dakota (away from Mt. Rushmore, etc.)?

I will be traveling to South Dakota from May 16-24. I've been before but unlike my previous trips, I'll actually have some leisure time. I know all about Mt. Rushmore and Walldrug and the Black Hills, and plan to go to those during my trip.

I was wondering if anyone here could recommend anything to see that might be worthwhile on the other side of the state, around the Sioux Falls area, since I'll have to spend a considerable amount of time there as well? Any particular restaurant or museum, business or attraction I should visit?

Well, there's the Needles Hwy, Custer State Park, The Badlands, Devils Tower, Crazyhorse, Evans Plunge in Hot Springs, Wall Drug, Deadwood, Wind Caves.

I wouldn't leave the area until you've driven the north route to get to Devils Tower. OMG! What a beautil drive, I would love to live there.

Please, you've got to visit Rochford SD. It is about 5-6 miles south of Lead/Deadwood. The population is about 9. And there is a bar there; be careful when you set your beer on the table it may slide off! And guess what the owner of the bar is from WI!
